IBM has developed the world’s fastest supercomputer. When completed in 2005, the supercomputer Blue Gene/L, will occupy 64 full racks, with a peak performance of 360 teraflops, making it a contender to top the TOP500 supercomputer list.

But what makes a supercomputer super?! Here is a list from an article I read today… pretty funny! (comments straight from the article!!)

1. Built-in printer: How fly would that be? And why has no one thought of this?
2. 3-D screen: Jaws was in 3-D at one point, for crying out loud! This isn’t rocket science! Get me into the third dimension NOW!!!!
3. Cape: Doesn’t ever reputable superhero have a cape?
4. The power of telekinesis:So, what am I thinking now? Yes…..yes….that’s it. You got it. The number 4. Very good… :))
5. Crime fighting: When I put my computer to “sleep” at night, I wanna rest safe knowing that he’s sneaking out the window to go battle injustice, right wrongs, and kick some criminal ass!
6. Sound advice: I’d like to know if that special girl is worth the $150 bucks I’m about to shell out for our one month anniversary dinner?
7. Be a friend: If my computer could do my taxes, whisk me through the wonders of the World Wide Web, harness my e-mail prowess AND be my best friend?:)

Yesterday was the first day of fall, here is a poem (from Alfonzo’s blog). Its sounds a bit morose, but I like the abruptness and the clarity.

Autumn, you are the season about loss
There is sadness as the leaves drop from your trees,
And I crunch them under my feet.
The sound, reminding me of the breaking of hearts when
relationships end.
Bareness of trees, reminding me I’m getting older as another year comes to an end,
And winter approaches with her lonliness.
